Before I came to Almost Home, I was living from house to house, in cars, anywhere I could go.  Almost Home was the beginning of a new life for my four-month old, my unborn child and me.  I had a lot of problems and they had me talk to a counselor who helped me with my depression.  They helped me get my high school diploma at the age of 16 and gave me the encouragement that I don’t have from others.”   ~ S.M.

“It’s not easy being a young mother, but Almost Home made it a lot easier. They were family when I needed them to be. If it wasn’t for Almost Home, I wouldn’t have learned to save and budget my money. Now, I have my high school diploma, I have a job and I have successfully moved into their apartments.  I thank you for the good person you’ve helped me to become.”  ~ J.H.

“Almost Home has been a shower of blessings.  Before I came here, my life was going nowhere fast.  My  mother abandoned me, my brothers and sister.  I was forced to raise three kids and a baby daughter on my own.  Now with Almost Home’s help, I am a student at St. Louis Job Corps and I am taking up a trade in Business Technology.  I am also becoming a better parent.”   ~ V.B.

“Almost Home has helped me mature and has taught me how to depend on myself.  I can say that I truly learned the meaning of ‘independent living’.  I was not looking forward to my future because of my past, but they helped me to change my thinking and plan for a better future.  With their help, I have graduated from high school and I also was the valedictorian of my class.  I now attend Harris-Stowe University.”   ~ A.M.

“Almost Home taught me how to achieve my goals, by setting higher standards for myself and to follow through. Some life skills that I have learned include how to manage money, to keep healthy, positive parenting, and to use common sense. When I am ready to move out of Almost Home, I know that I will be able to love and care for my children.  I really appreciated that.”   ~ D.M.
