Being a teenage mother is hard, but when a pregnant or parenting teen finds herself without support and a stable home life she faces a unique set of challenges. At Almost Home we believe that a young mother will need much more than food and shelter to overcome the obstacles that accompany teen pregnancy. We believe that through a program of positive parenting, life skills, education, and counseling we can provide teen mothers with the skills they will need to become independent and successful adults. The staff at Almost Home has the unique job of not only providing the teen mothers with a balanced and effective program but nurturing and guiding the young women as they begin to visualize a better life for themselves and their children.
In order to be accepted into the Almost Home program a young woman must meet the following criteria:
- Be between the ages of 12-19
- Be a pregnant or parenting teen
- Be without a stable home to live in. This can mean the teen was homeless or experienced a series of failed, unsafe, unhygienic, unstable living arrangements.
Each and every young woman that enters Almost Home has a unique background and story. In order to provide the best programming possible for each young woman the Almost Home staff aids teen mothers in creating an individualized service plan that acts a blueprint for how she will achieve independence.
